Postsecondary Education Programs Network of Japan (PEPNet-Japan)

This network, presided over by Tsukuba University of Technology, consists of universities and other institutions that are working with special enthusiasm to improve the learning environment for students with hearing disabilities who study at universities and colleges throughout the country. Its activities include the opening of consultation desks, development of learning material, accumulation of model cases, the holding of symposiums, management of databases, etc. The methodology and cutting-edge techniques learned through these activities are utilized to enhance the education provided at Tsukuba University of Technology; simultaneously, the methods and techniques developed by our university are widely distributed in order to contribute to the improvement of a nationwide support system. Especially, soon after The Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011, and the 2016 Kumamoto earthquakes, we cooperated in confirming the safety of students with hearing disability in disaster areas and offered learning opportunities for them by using the remote information security technology.
